Abstract:
The evolution of nuclear compound systems following nucleus-nucleus collisions at Fermi energies is the result of the complex interplay between mean-field effects and nucleon-nucleon scattering. Within a microscopic transport model, Stochastic Mean Field, we evidence new correlations between the mass hierarchy of the intermediate mass fragments (IMF’s) and their velocity and isospin, features sensitive to the reaction mechanisms and to the symmetry energy in the nuclear equation of state. These observations can open new experimental opportunities aiming to constrain the density dependence of symmetry energy below saturation and to disentangle various fragmentation processes.
