Abstract:
We present a first-principles investigation of the atomic and electronic structures of boron nitride quantum wires and tubes, by examining their dependence on diameters and shapes. The effects induced by the presence of surfaces, when compared to the bulk material, were studied. Phonon spectra are calculated and their peculiarities are discussed.
