Abstract: The research project proposes the preparation of an amorphous or quasi-amorphous structure in the Fe - Cu system, at which the crystallization of the cubic phase bcc should be controlled by an external magnetic field at a temperature below the Curie point of the ferromagnetic phase, in such a way inducing to the formed particles a form anisotropy.
The neutron diffraction has been found to be an appropriate technique to investigate the mechanical properties of the Fe – Cu nanoalloy. The neutron diffraction spectra of the measured samples were obtained by TOF method on the DN-2 Neutron Diffractometer installed on the channel two of the IBR-2 reactor.
We determined the microstructure characteristics of the Fe - Cu a-phase in dependence of the latice parameters for the investigated samples.
The investigated Fe - Cu composite, that was characterized by neutron diffraction, will be the starting material for a new class of permanent magnets.
