Abstract:
Electro-optical measurement is one of useful methods for the study of dynamical response of liquid crystals. Compared to dielectric spectroscopy, the electro-optical spectroscopy is less influenced by DC conductivity of the sample and is applicable to measurements is greater variety of cell configurations. The paper focuses on the polymer thin layers (films) deposition effect on the ITO electrode of the symmetric/asymmetric nematic liquid crystals cells. The surface of the film obtained has been analysed using AFM (atomic force microscopy) technique and the deposition conditions effects on the surface structure have been established. The electro-optic response of the system has been studied as a function of voltage and frequency. Electro-optical sampling with polymers provides an easy way to diagnose and a powerful method for the contact measurement of high-speed electrical signals in integrated circuits.
