Abstract:
The effective behavior of the solution of a nonlinear problem arising in the modeling of thermal diffusion in a two-component composite formed by two materials with different thermal properties, separated by an active interface, is analyzed. Using an homogenization procedure, we prove that the macroscopic behavior of the solution of our problem is governed by a continuous model, similar to the famous Barenblatt`s system. Thus, despite its discrete cellular structure, at a macroscopic level, the composite can be described as the superimposition of two interpenetrating continuous media, coexisting at every point of the domain.
