Abstract:
In the first part of our study we used the method of light scattering for solutions of polystyrene in benzene (good solvent) and in cyclohexan (theta solvent at 34.6 oC). The concentration domain was between 0.5-4 10-3 g/cm3 and we determined the characteristics of the polymer: the molecular weight, radius of gyration and the second virial coefficient. In the second part of our work we extended the domain of the concentrations to 0.05-1.1 10-2 g/cm3. Using the asymptotic behavior at zero angle, we determined a polydispersity degree of 1.3. The experimental results allowed us to obtain the exponent a of the viscometry law (Mark-Kuhn-Houwink equation) which is 0.6 for the polystyrene in benzene. References: 1. C. Strazielle, H.
