Abstract: The use of Methotrexate (MTX) as a photosensitizer in conjunction with optical irradiation of the solid malignant tumours requires the knowledge of the cytotoxic agent intratumoural retention time. That can be made by sequential scintigraphic procedures and implies radioactive labeling with the isotope 99mTc. Radioactive Chromatography and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra measurements confirm the possibility of synthesizing a radiopharmaceutical (2,4 diamino 6-pertechnetate pterine) that pursues the biodistribution of MTX. Sequential scintigraphy at 15 minutes shows that the MTX intratumoural retention time is approximately one hour from the systemical administration in bolus.
