Abstract: The Standard Model (SM) provides an accurate description of phenomena in nuclear and particle physics. Despite its success, the SM is shown to be incomplete, in the neutrino, dark matter or dark energy sectors for example.
The Weinberg angle, defined in connection with the ratio between the masses of W and Z bosons, is one of the key parameters of the theory. Its value was measured with a high precision in the region of the Z – pole and the confirmation of the results in the low energy range is considered an essential test for the theory [1], [2].
We explore the possibility of measuring the Weinberg angle in neutrino-electron scattering at low energy, using neutrinos from electron capture processes in nuclei using Glacier [3] as liquid argon time projection chamber detector. The measurement of neutrino elastic scattering is also a sensitive tool to probe non standard interactions, as new physics beyond the SM, in particular unparticle phenomenology [4] putting in evidence the effects of virtual unparticles exchanged between fermionic currents. The possibility to study neutrino oscillations is also considered.
