Abstract:
The m-line spectroscopy allows a reliable measurement of waveguides parameters using the light propagation modes into the guide. The technique is based on the prism coupling technique. We present the technical specification, software solutions and measurement technique for a manufactured computerized experimental setup. By this method, refractive index and thickness of a deposited thin layer of PVA and Fe:PVA have been determined with a very good accuracy. The method is also applicable for anisotropic materials (by modified m-line spectroscopy) and up to four-layer waveguide structures.
