Abstract:
In order to perform an aqurate efficiency calibration for different measurement geometries a good knowledge of the detector characteristics is required. The Monte Carlo simulation program GESPECOR is applied. The detector characterization required for Monte Carlo simulation is achieved using the efficiency values obtained measuring a point source. The point source was measured in two significant geometries: the source placed in a vertical plan containing the vertical symmetry axe of the detector and in a horizontal plan containing the centre of the active volume of the detector. The measurements were made using gamma-spectrometry technique.
