Abstract:
Low-level jets (LLJs) occur in Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL), especially over the plain. The LLJ is one of the meteorological hazards that air-plains have to face on the takeoff/landing path. The region affected by this very strong wind shear is Romanian Plain, where the two airports of Bucharest- “Henri Coanda” and “Aurel Vlaicu”, are placed. This study examines two cases of low-level wind speed maxima- one in 29-30/03.2008 and the other in 07-08.03.2011, to determine whether they are triggered by the same mechanism or they are part of two different classes of low-level jets.
