Abstract:
The high-harmonic generation (HHG) by an intense laser field focused in a gas jet is a topic of great interest, both theoretical an experimental. We mention here only the exciting possibility open to the study of atomic phenomena generated by very short laser pulses (hundreds of attoseconds), pulses obtained from high harmonics. In this paper we present the most significant results of an extensive numerical calculation of HHG, for the case of an electron in a long-range one dimensional potential, exposed to a monochromatic electric field. We examine the power spectrum density of the dipole acceleration, in its dependence on the electric field amplitude in the range 0-0.1 au, for a fixed frequency (0.0577 au). We concentrate our attention on the role of resonances - a hot subject [1,2] of the last years research in HHG, and we interpret the results in terms of Floquet states and quasienergies. [1] E.S.
