Abstract:
Direct hydrogen sulfide fuel cells (DHSFC) have been successfully applied in mobile electronics. A new potential application for DHSFC is rich hydrogen sulfide water treatment. The possibility of hydrogen sulfide recovering from waste water using a DHSFC with Nafion membranes, Pt and Pt-Ru 50% catalysts is analyzed. The recover-efficiency is estimated for different methanol concentrations of hydrogen sulfide. For hydrogen sulfide, the current density is less with two orders in magnitude but conversion rise to colloidal sulfur which is collected in water. Therefore, DHSFC can be considered a new alternative method for cleaning sulfide water.
