Abstract:
This work contains a comparative measurement of indoor 222Rn concentration at the Faculty of Phisycs, University of Bucharest. The comparison was made using two types of detectors: CR-39 polymer solid state nuclear track detector (SSNTD) produced by Radosys Ltd – measurements performed and evaluated by the IFIN-HH SSNTD laboratory staff, and AlphaGUARD PQ2000 active 222Rn detector from the Research Center for Radiation Protection (University of Bucharest – Faculty of Physics). The interpretation of the AlphaGUARD data for 222Rn activity was made at Research Center for Radiation Protection. The measurements where carried out between 15 Oct 2009 and 18 Ian 2010 , in the Gamma Spectroscopy Laboratory at the Faculty of Physics. The 3 months interval assured that both detectors provided a good statistical measurement. The results given by the two detector types for this location were 28,7±4 Bq/m3 for CR-39 and 34,6±3 Bq/m3 for AlphaGUARD.
