Abstract:
This paper explores the possibility of building a semi-autonomous robot for exploring buildings and gathering data that will later be used for modeling their energy consumption needs. The robot is designed to move through a semi-structured, 2-dimensional environment while building a map of the various recorded parameters. The paper is structured in three main parts. The first part describes the hardware used in building the robot and its limitations. The second talks about the software that controls the robot and the third about the uncertainty of the collected data. The paper closes with the practical usage of a more advanced robot of this type.
