As curent vs voltage measurements have revealed a nonstandard behaviour of the electric conductivity within some nematic liquid crystals (NLC) samples, the results have been associated with the the local orientational order at the free surfaces of the liquid crystal. The study executed accentuated the effect of the plasma treatment of the polymeric film on the electric conductivity properties of the investigated cells.
