Abstract: Heavy precipitation events in the Dobrogea region combine warm and moist easterly or southerly advection at low levels, typically observed in torrential rainfall events of the region, with a strong upper levels dynamical forcing. Flash flood events selected for analyses occurred, first of it, on 28 August 2004, the second on the 3 July 2005 and the third on 19 September 2006 in Dobrogea region, located in east of Romania. The ECMWF model analysis is used to investigate the dynamical forcing. A mesoscale numerical simulation using ALADIN model is performed to investigate the mechanism responsible for the convection development. Data from conventional weather station, radar and satellite imagery are used to investigate the role of the different types of convective systems organization in flash flood generation. The aim of this work is to investigate what fraction of precipitation is due to pure dynamical forcing, and what is associated with mesoscale processes.
