Abstract:
Nickel oxide thin films were obtained by Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) and radio-frequency assisted PLD (RF-PLD) techniques on Si substrates. Nickel oxide thin films are obtained by irradiating a Ni metallic target in oxygen atmosphere. The influence of substrate temperature on the properties of the thin layer was carried out.Topography of surface of Nickel oxide thin films was studied using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Optical properties of nickel oxide (NiO) thin films are investigated using spectroscopic ellipsometry. The dielectric function of Nickel oxide was calculated using Gauss oscillators models. The dispersion of the refractive index in the 250 −1700 nm range was calculated. Thicknesses of the films and of their rough layer are extracted from Cauchy model. Other optical properties as optical band-gap and extinction coefficient were also extracted.
