Abstract:
With the increasing threat of global warming and environmental pollution, it increased the interest in developing renewable and alternative sources such as wind, solar, hydro and biomass, as replacement for fossil fuel. This paper examines the performance of a wind turbine in controlled conditions. It approaches the measurement of turbine power and voltage at different wind speeds and blade lengths. This article analyzed the potential factors that may increase the performance of a wind turbine, which are: number of blades, angle of the blades, length of the blades, wind speed and air density. The study made clear the importance of blade angle and the multiplication ratio, as they showed the biggest impact on wind turbine power. The experiments were made on Wind Power 2.0 experimental kit.
