Abstract:
The optical response of the famous C60 fullerene is calculated using the Time-Dependent-Thomas-Fermi method embedded in a nonlinear Schrodinger-like equation. The obtained optical spectrum is in good agreement with the experimental results and follows closely the main sum rules. We analyze the behavior of the local electron density and discuss the most debated two interpretations of the dipolar resonance from 40eV in terms of volume or surface plasmon.
