Abstract: At a time when the specter of an unprecedented global energy crisis is becoming more and more clear and it tends day after day to materialize, is becoming more acute the need for settlement of the technologies capable to ensure the efficiency (also at economic level) for the purpose to satisfy the energy consumption needs of the modern world, predominantly through the use of renewable sources: sunlight, water, air etc. Among them, it is the method of obtaining the hydrogen, economically and relatively easy, applying the photo-electrolysis of water, so the use of solar energy in the matter of photo-electrolysis become one possible direction of research and development, especially since the hydrogen can be stored relatively easily within the metal hydrides. The tests made at IFTM-Magurele laboratories, with photo-electrodes based on doped titanium dioxide, entitle us to hope that this technology could be one of the wanted solutions.
