Abstract:
Urea Fuel Cells employ a non-toxic, non-flammable and transport-friendly fuel that can be easily recovered from waste water. In this study, a classic cationic exchange membrane-electrode assembly was tested in urea fuel cell system, with Ni load of 20mg/cm2 at anode and Pt catalyst load of 0.6-1 mg/cm2 at cathode, reaching a maximum current density of 0.8 mA/cm2 at a voltage of 262 mV, for 1M urea concentrations. Anodic gaseous sample was collected in a vacuum recipient and analyzed via Residual Gas Analyzer. At the end of experiments, anodic solution was tested using a Mass Spectrometer.
