Abstract:
The extra-tropical cyclones, low pressure systems,are responsible for bad weather over Romania. A peculiar categories that of Mediterranean cyclones. Usually, these cyclones are treated as distinct entities, being of particular interest not only for Mediterranean countries, but also for Central European ones. The Gulf of Genoa is one of the major Mediterranean cyclogenetic region, cyclogenesis being mainly controlled by the topography and the large temperature differences between land and sea.In this work are presented the formation conditions, dynamical characteristics and the trajectories of Mediterranean cyclones. All of these are emphasized by a study case of the cyclone which affected the weather,especially in south-western part of Romania in the days 13,14 and 15 May 2014.
