Abstract:
Energy crisis is a major problem of our days and for this reason new renewable energy sources are studied in order to replace energy obtained from fossil resources. Renewable energy provides substantial benefits for global climate, for human health and also could have economic benefits. The aim of this work is to present to the students the fundamentals of fuel cells and of biological fuel cells. The last could be used also for the creating of new biomedical implantable devices. To illustrate the working principle of fuel cells we have used educational kits from Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies Company (Singapore). As example, we have used “Fuel Cell Car Science Kit” which generates hydrogen from distilled water through electrolysis and all the power of the process is generated with a solar panel. The second kit used, was a mini fun which function with the electrical energy produced by a fuel cell which works with air and with a plate made with magnesium.
