Abstract:
Isotopes from natural radioactive series, uranium, thorium, actinium, are found in every type of soil. In these types of soil elements like 40K or rubidium are also present although only 40K can be discerned, by the gamma rays emission, identifiable with the specific methods. The aim of this paper is to study the radioactive elements that are present in the composition of commercial clay and to estimate the absorbed doses by the human organism after ingestion different products containing its. The desired outcome is to identify those radioisotopes emitting gamma rays by measurement of the activity through gamma spectrometry, using a germanium detector. For this study there were used two samples of commercial clay and a sample of cosmetic clay.
