Abstract: An area affected by hydrocarbon pollution was identified by means of non-invasive geoelectrical investigation method. Following this positive result a monitoring program was started. In order to use the data for assessing the spatial and temporal variation of the hydrocarbon polluted plume, measurements were done using the same acquisition technique (four electrode electrical array disposed in Schlumberger mode) and respecting the first data-set VES injection points and potential lines succession. By respecting this acquisition mode data sets were proper for time-lapse analysis. The highest electrical resistivity values were noticed in the South part of the profile, between VES nr. 1-3. This area showed a great dynamic during the 10 months monitoring program. The resistivity values were variable in time, the lowest ones being registered in summer 2013 (190 Ohm*m), while the maximum values were measured in autumn 2013 (260 Ohm*m). Till last data set (spring 2014) the intensity of the pollution in this area has decreased, but was still at a higher level than observed in summer 2013. The observed changes in the shape and intensity of the electrical anomaly were interpreted as being caused by the fresh hydrocarbon spills from the nearby source, transported by the groundwater.
