Abstract:
We investigate the dipole response of atomic nuclei within a model based on a system of two coupled Vlasov equations for protons and neutrons. This formalism is obtained as the semiclassical limit of Wigner tranformation of Time Dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF)equations. From numerical simulations we conclude that the polarizability follows a mass dependence consistent with the Migdal predictions, but with a slope which is influenced by the density dependence of the symmetry energy around saturation. Then we estimate the energy weighted dipole sum-rule exhausted by Pygmy Dipole Resonance for an isotopic chain of Sn and find a quadratic evolution with isospin parameter of the system. We interpret these results as being linked to the polarization effects of the isovector density which manifest in finite systems.
