Abstract:
In astrophysical and cosmological applications the mechanisms by which particles attaint very high energies is yet an open problem. In this contribution the possible mechanisms of acceleration particles like Fermi mechanism of first and second order, Pulsars, matter-antimatter annihilation are shortly discussed. Inverse Compton scattering will be treated more in detail because in this direction it plays a more important role than the Compton scattering itself. Because we are talking about astrophysical processes, this scattering can be generalized as a scattering between a distribution of electrons and a distribution of photons. The change in the spectrum of the incident radiation caused by the multiple Compton scattering with a thermal distribution of electrons is discussed and some numerical estimations are done. The Sunyaev - Zeldovich Effect (CMB Comptonization) in which the change of energy is made by the scattering of the cosmic microwave background radiation photons by the electrons in the clusters of galaxies and the applications of these effect are also brief discussed.
