Abstract:
This paper focuses on the way in which we can design and use a roller coaster model for didactic purposes in order to study the transformation of mechanical energy. Designing such a device requires analysis of local values of the mechanical energy with regard to the movement of an object on a given trajectory. The trajectory of the object includes segments such as: inclined and horizontal plane, vertical and horizontal loop. The finality of such a project is reflected in the possibility to determine the velocities, accelerations, centripetal forces, kinetic and potential energies for different points in the mobile objects’ trajectories.
