Abstract:
Waste plastic from municipal plastic wastes pose a tremendous threat to the environment. Over a 100 million tones of plastic are produced annually. The aim of this research was to study biofuel oil production from municipal plastic wastes by sequential pyrolysis. The plastic is graded into nearly uniform size by a shredder. The gaded feed was headed at a set temperature so that other impurities can be removed. The vapor product is then distilled to obtain different fractions of petroleum products. The different fractions depent upon de type of feed, catalyst/feed ratio and temperature of heating. Thermochemical conversion of plastic into fuels is a clean method and economically suitable for producing biofules.
