Abstract:
Glacing angle deposition (GLAD) technique has been proven by scientists to be an efficient method of creating finely controlled structures by modifying the deposition parameters as the thin film grows. The adaptation of this technique in plasma polymerization makes it possible to create structured films with different morphologies depending on the deposition angle and position of the probe. If the polymerization process doesn`t bind the monomer fragments in the plasma before reaching the substrate, the first lair of polymer on the substrate won`t have chunks to create the shadowing effect needed for GLAD and the polymer thin film will be smooth and seen as a flat surface on SEM analysis. In order to create the shadowing effect and start the structured growth, the substrates have been seeded with glue. The probes were analyzed by SEM and compared with control samples.
