Abstract:
The minimal states related to the pair of position and momentum observables are an important theoretical tool for the investigation of the relation between classical and quantum mechanics. They also present attractive features for the numerical integration of the time dependent Schrodinger equation. For a particle in 1D motion, we discuss the possibility to expand the state vectors in terms of vectors describing minimal states and forming a discrete infinite set. In order to find this expansion we use the properties of the coherent states for a fictitious 1D harmonic oscillator associated to the particle.
