Abstract:
This study focuses the formation of solitons along an atomic chain after compression produced by an atom - atom collisions at one end of the system [1]. The behavior of the initial local deformation is investigated according to its propagation along the chain of a few thousands of atoms. If the incident particle velocity is greater than a critical value (depending on the inter-atomic potential parameters used in the simulation) the deformation wave remain almost unchanged showing the characteristics of soliton. The chain is configured by modified Morse potential adapted to atom-atom interaction at small distances. The solitons have been studied especially regarding their scattering processes on impurity assembly of atoms inserted in the chain. We investigate those conditions required for chemical breaking bonds at the end of the atomic chain by using the energy of the solitonic wave, revealing potential applications on the reconfiguration processes in macro-molecules.
