Abstract: We are living in the digital era, where „cloud”, „IoT”, „IoE”, „smart technology”, „AI” are invading our lives. The data analysis is the gear of nowadays. The tendency to analyse everything around us can be easily observed. Thanks to sensors and electronics advancements, we are now able to keep a continuous record for each action, from the level of glucose in our body to the intraocular pressure within the eye[1]. Electronic fabrics and smart textiles are advancing, especially, biomedical research in diagnostic and therapeutic devices. Smart clothing is a “smart system” capable of sensing and communicating with environmental and the wearer’s conditions and stimuli. Printing methods create flexible LEDs, solar cells, sensors that will allow people to use these devices without awareness. The purpose is to create, from a holistic engineering view, a smart jacket for cyclists. The smart jacket will include LEDs, a CO2 monitoring sensor, photovoltaic cells for power and RFID data transmitting. The key requirements of this smart jacket system is that it will provide continuous CO2 level data from the environment, while providing LED light to the cyclist on the night time. In this paper, the wearable technology is presented, along with its components needed for the smart jacket. Also, calculations of the system are provided.
