Abstract:
Nucleus-nucleus collisions at relativistic energies provide an opportunity to study the quark gluon plasma. One of the signals which can be associated with the presence of QGP is jet quenching. During the propagation of jets through the hot and dense medium they will lose a part of their energy due to the fact that they will interact with the medium constituents. Therefore, the study of jet quenching will provide an insight into the medium properties and on the fragmentation and hadronisation processes occurring in this medium. In order to study the modifications of jets in hot and dense medium created in heavy ion collisions it is necessary to compare them with the data obtained in proton-proton collisions at the same energy. In this work, the transverse momentum spectra of charged particles and of identified particles produced in pp collisions at 7 TeV were analyzed. The fragmentation functions for the inclusive charged particles and for identified particles found in the selected jets will be presented.
