Abstract:
This study presents the absorbed energy distribution in depth and along the beam of protons and carbon ions in water and human tissue simulations based on their elemental composition, in order to develop a new highly accurate personalized treatment plan for cancer. Absorbed energy distribution histograms were obtained by using GAMOS (Geant4 based Architecture for Medical Oriented Simulations) and analyzed with ROOT. The results shows a difference between shape of the energy distribution in water and human tissues that could lead to a new approach in aiming cancer tumours.
