Abstract:
We investigated thermo-optical proprieties of nematic E7 liquid crystal by means of image analysis techniques obtained with a polarizing optical microscope and a Matlab routine. The textures of crystal liquid are captured via microscope and the changes in textural features as a function of temperature, using a Peltier Cell for gradually heating, are useful to compute the thermo-optical proprieties. These microscopic captured textures are analyzed using a Matlab routine for studying parameters like optical transmission, Absorption coefficient, Phase retardation, birefringence and order parameter.
