Abstract: Understanding the science and technology behind the renewable sources of energy becomes more important for young students, now our society started to seriously take into account alternatives as expanding the “green” industry. Unfortunately, teacher notice the fact that most students have a lot of wrong perceptions regarding this renewable energy sources. The main cause of this problem is usually the intake of misconceptions students are facing, which is majorly influenced by the growing popularity of internet and social media accepted as scientific sources. STEM is a feasible new educational method, that if properly applied and thought, will make a major difference in the way students see the world around them and address the problems that they face. Teachers give students the opportunity to take part in interactive learning environments that will expand skills like teamwork and communication and by that, increase the confidence and competences of students in this fields. The purpose of this study is to observe students’ solar energy knowledge and misconceptions with STEM project-based activities, such as efficiency of solar cell at high or low temperature, effect of different coloured light on output of solar cell.
