Abstract: The frontal systems associated to Mediterranean cyclones are responsible for the occurrence of most episodes of severe weather (heavy rains, hail, wind gusts) in our country [1]. The purpose of this paper is to analyze whether and in what way atmospheric fronts associated with Mediterranean depressions, reactivated in the Black Sea were responsible for heavy rains over the period 24 to 27 May 2016 over eastern Romania. The materials used to study the dynamics of fronts activities were mainly products of wide global model European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and limited area model outputs ALARO and ALADIN, satellite imagies and radar data. Occluded front action of the cyclone reactivated above the Black Sea, reached the stage of maturity, affected mainly the region of Moldova, the proof being the precipitation in this region, which exceeded 50 mm in almost three hours. Analysis and correlation of all data have shown that the increased vorticity advection at the level of 300 hPa, assured development of cyclonic vortex over the entire column tropospheric and stratospheric intrusion dry air accentuated instability and amplified the upward movement of air.
