Abstract:
Our work was devoted to develop a computer simulation program of a vibrating string. We used the Microsoft Excel software for writing the computer routines, because we intended to prove that a relatively well known and cheap software may be used to simulate a fairly complex physics phenomenon.
We used the software to determine the fundamental frequency of the string and its natural overtones as function of its natural parameters. We analyzed two situations: first the plucked string, followed by strucked string
The results of both of our simulations were very close with those of the theoretical analysis, proving the validity of the computer model.
