Abstract:
In general, some of the hardest materials characterized by scanning electron microscopes (SEM), are the polymers, dielectrics material, and the biological materials [1]. This has led to new techniques for sample preparation before being morphologically characterized. Some of the techniques commonly used are to deposit a thin film (usually less than 5 nm)[1] of gold on the surface to be characterized. The deposition of the thin gold film is deposited by sputtering[2]. It is a useful technique that is so easily accessible. The study was conducted on several non-conductive materials, with the purpose of obtaining the image from which information on the morphology of the sample can be extracted [2].
