Abstract:
We used Monte Carlo simulation to investigate crystallization in a bi-component polymeric system. It was found that time dependence of the crystalline fractions of both polymers obey the Avrami equation. For various nucleation conditions, we obtained the crystallization rate constant and the Avrami indices for the all components of the blend, the agreement between the values predicted by theory and those obtained from simulations being excellent. We also made a through statistics on the dimensions of the generated spherulites, the dimension and distribution of the radii of the crystalline domains being strongly influenced by the growth velocities and concentrations of the nuclei.
