Abstract:
In recent years the non-Markovian features of quantum systems have become a key topic of study on open quantum systems dynamics. In a Markovian evolution an open system irreversibly loses information to its environment, while a non-Markovian evolution exhibits flow of information from the environment into the open system-i.e. memory effects. We give an overview of the methods by which we can quantify and witness the degree of non-Markovianity of a quantum process.
