Abstract: This work is devoted to characterizing polyaniline thin films obtained in a DC plasma polymerization reactor with variable geometry. The reactor offers the possibility of deposition for polymer films in Glancing Angle Deposition conditions. When modifying various parameters such as the angle of the substrate in relation with the incident vapors and temperature, the resulting thin films present changes in chemical bonds, as seen in FT-IR spectra, and topological growth (observed in SEM and AFM images). Structural proprieties are also investigated using XRD, where 90 nm crystallites can be found in an amorphous layer, results supported also by the electrical conductivity measurements. These types of films can be used to enhance the electro-optical response in nematic liquid crystal cells.
