Abstract:
This paper describes a didactic tool created with the Mathcad program for the study of the simple gravity pendulum. Depending on the input data, the results are presented both analytically and graphically. The period of oscillation is calculated according to the length of the pendulum and the angular amplitude and it is compared to the value of the oscillation period under isochronous conditions. The chart of the tool displays the graph of the oscillation period according to the angular amplitude for a set value of the pendulum length in the input data. The main advantage of this tool is the rapid calculation of the elliptic integral from the expression of the oscillation period of the gravity pendulum. At the same time, the tool allows testing the conditions in which the approximation of the small oscillations can be applied to the study of the gravity pendulum.
