Abstract:
In almost all of educational systems, graduates of an education cycle, must pass through a package of national tests that aim for the identification of the most accurate abilities which students achieved during the study, for the evaluated discipline. On the other hand, the students testing achived results make the ranking possibble, that allow acces to high preparation levels, high school or university. The required stringency for this type of evaluations can be reached, if the created tests are elaborated in the standardised evaluation paradigm, based primarily on Item Response Theory(IRT).The present study, explores how, by using IRT instruments, the following can be determinated : (1) items’ features which form up a test, in an independent way from the evaluated group characteristics; (2) how equivalent tests in difficulty can be elaborated every year, to enable the comparison of the crowd of aspirants to the same superior schooling level; (3) how high power of discrimination tests can be elaborated, between subjects, in an asked threshold by a certain university admittance. The preliminary results of analysis performed demonstrate the work instruments superiority offered by IRT, compared to those of Clasical Test Theory, which shows a major deficiency, the applied tests result dependence on the difficulty level. Although with much more difficult instrumented, the standardized IRT based tests results are rigorous and unbiassed.
