Abstract:
By applying the momentum conservation law the dynamics of a pulsejet engine in vertical motion in a uniform gravitational field and in the absence of friction is analyzed following [1]. In the limit of short pulses, the model predicts the existence of a terminal speed given the pulse frequency. The dynamics models of the pulsejet and turbojet engine [2, 3] are compared . The pulsejet model is applied to aircraft and octopi in vertical motion. The validity limits of the frictionless model are discussed.
