Abstract:
The aim of this work is to analyze the severe weather events due to atmospheric convection in Bucharest, Romania in the summer season, May -July. For this we used the values of atmospheric instability indices. They characterize the development of atmospheric convection: CAPE, CIN, SHOWALTER.The data base of the instability indices for the months of May, June and July 2016 was realized by using the thermodynamic diagrams (SkewT) of the radio-sounding from Baneasa Bucharest weather station. The statistical analysis showed that in the 90 days of analysis 11 were with intense atmospheric convection, 4 with medium convection and 5 with weak convection. The model HYSPLIT was used to analyze the severe weather cases and the link with the indices of instability and the synoptic and aerological context. The results of the study, the interpretation of the thermodynamic diagrams and meteograms show the appearance of severe weather phenomena in the middle of the summer (31st of May, 1st of July).
