Abstract: In this work we show how we can use the GeoGebra software to verify the consistence between the laws of reflection and refraction, on the one hand, and Fermat's Principle and Huygens’ Principle on the other one. The applets achieved with GeoGebra aim to correct erroneous understanding of the Fermat's principle, which is often inappropriately called the principle of the least time. Another applet we achieved with GeoGebra aims to construct a causal model of refraction, based on the Huygens’ Principle and considering light as a wave. The applets presented in this article can be made by students themselves using the GeoGebra mathematical modelling software.
