Abstract:
Order level of macromolecular systems is a complex physical topic from both theoretical and experimental point of view. Herein we show a theoretical model that can explain the ordonability within spherulitic crystalline formations. For the model associated to the linear macromolecular chain, formed by flexible and rigid parts that are statistically distributed we manage to point out the role of the melt-solid interface as being an important factor in the process of orienting the rigid segments in a perpendicular manner with respect to the growth radius of the spherullite. Following the primary crystallization process we have an increase in the ordonability level (characterized by the secondary crystallization step – typical to macromolecular systems). We experimentally emphasize the way in which the cooling velocity influences the order degree induced by the surface in the case of sequential polymers.
